SEATTLE – November 2, 2014. The Laird Norton Company has joined with over 80 Washington businesses by signing the Washington Business Climate Declaration to seek action on climate change to protect the Northwest’s natural assets and outstanding quality of life.
The Washington Business Climate Declaration is a companion to the nationwide Climate Declaration, which currently has more than 1,000 signatories.
Jeff Vincent, Laird Norton’s CEO, and the other Washington State business leaders, summarized the collaborative effort this way: “There is a clear and present need for action on climate change to protect our region’s natural assets, its vibrant communities and its growing economy. We support using energy efficiently, investing in cleaner fuels, advancing renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
“LNC will work to protect the quality of life and our innovative spirit here in Washington,” Vincent said. “Laird Norton is proud to do business in a state that is committed to taking action on this defining issue, and to stand with businesses across the state and nation that feel the same.”
In addition to knowing that scientific evidence shows that climate change is real and has significant health impacts, Washington business leaders who signed the declaration said it is time to make the economic case for tackling climate change.
